About Us
We are a family run club that welcomes members from all ages. We run friendly sessions for both men and women who want to learn a martial art, get fit and learn self defence. All of the Instructors have been DBS checked and hold Instructors Liability Insurance.
Regular grading and competitions mean that members can progress through the belt grading system and take part in a competitive sport if they so wish or just get fit. For our younger members the sport helps build confidence and discipline, whilst enabling them to learn self defence in a safe, disciplined class, taught by professionals. The first week is FREE, so come and give Taekwondo a try.
Please use the Facebook link at the bottom of the page for details of the booking system and how to reserve a space for your chosen class.

What is TAE KWON DO ?
Literally translated, the Korean word "TAE" means "to kick or squash with the foot.” "KWON" implies "a hand or fist to block, punch, or strike." "DO" means an "art" or a "way.” Thus, "Tae Kwon Do" means, "the art of kicking, blocking and punching." However,
Tae Kwon Do is not merely a physical fighting skill- it is rather, a way of thought and life. Through strict discipline Tae Kwon Do trains both the mind and body, placing great emphasis on the development of personal character. In other words, control of the mind, self discipline, kindness and humility must accompany the physical strength.
Traditional Taekwondo
Our aim is to teach traditional aspects of W.T.F. taekwondo, a world wide organisation of an ancient martial arts history. We encourage students to learn Korean words and understand the roots of this
un-armed combat.
Patterns, poomsae, are used as a basis for learning offensive and defensive techniques.
There is also an emphasis on fitness and discipline within all clubs, with respect at the forefront.
Self Defence
As an unarmed martial art we teach many techniques for dealing with an attacker.
Whether you are confronted by a weapon, verbal abuse or physical attack you will learn confidently how to react in self defence to such events. When a senior student you will also be shown grabs, holds, strikes and blows, sufficient enough to enable your attacker helpless, should the need arise in a confrontation.
Sport Taekwondo
Taekwondo first appeared in the Olympics as a demonstration sport at the 1988 Seoul Olympic Games.
It made its debut as an official Olympic sport at the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. Since then it has also featured in Athens 2004 and will be one of the 26 sports in both the Beijing 2008 and the London 2012 Olympic Games.
Taekwondo is certainly not limited to those in superb physical condition. Anyone can take advantage of its benefits when learning proper techniques
